Administrative Assistant Job Opening

 

JOB POSTING:

Our Savior's Lutheran Church invites applications for a part-time Administrative Assistant to begin in early May.

The Assistant will work under the supervision of the Pastor and the Executive Committee of the congregation.  This position is for 16 hours per week over two to three days per week.

Our Savior's Lutheran Church is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.  This congregation has been in ministry in Columbia Falls since 1947, building up the body of Christ, nurturing its members, and serving God's world.

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

This is a great opportunity to be a part of Our Savior's work to share God's goodness with the world, while enjoying the benefits of part-time work.  Working as the Administrative Assistant of the congregation's church office entails two main areas of responsibility: producing publications and documents, and maintaining the church's financial books.  These two areas are done in the context of the activities of the church office which also involve maintaining communication with those who contact the office.  The areas of work require a diverse set of skills and responsibilities including: a professional, friendly attitude; technological competence; organizational and time management skills; and effective teamwork understanding of the need for maintaining a confidential environment in the office.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

·      Produce the bulletins for Sunday worship services;

·      Create and mail the monthly newsletter;

·      Create the annual report of the congregation;

·      Maintain the church's financial books.  This includes paying the bills and maintaining payroll, closing the monthly books and reconciling accounts, filing tax reports, and producing monthly financial reports;

·      Communicate with and assist those who contact the church;

·      General office management duties such as handling the mail, ordering office supplies, and maintaining the church's membership records.

 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

·      Organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills with the ability to complete tasks accurately and on time in a busy environment while providing attention to detail;

·      Demonstrated computer literacy using Microsoft Word, and the willingness to learn how to use Microsoft Publisher and Excel; ability to professionally format documents;

·      Some understanding of book-keeping with the willingness to learn how to use our book-keeping software, PowerChurch Plus;

·      Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including the ability to work with diverse groups of individuals and to establish and maintain good working relationships with the various entities of our congregation;

·      A respect for the mission and people of Our Savior's Lutheran Church;

·      A team-building, collaborative, and positive manner.

 

COMPENSATION

Compensation for this position is $12-15.00 an hour based on prior experience.  We offer two weeks of paid vacation.
